The Alliance Française d’Atlanta participates in the AF Frames project.
Foundation Courses, Conversation Classes & Specialized Workshops
The Alliance Française offers French classes in a friendly, intimate setting, with a class size of between 5 to 14 students. All instructors are experienced and professionally trained bilingual teachers. The instructors emphasize conversation and use a contextual approach to language learning, while conducting the classes almost entirely in French to maximize each student’s opportunity to practice
The Alliance Française values your opinion. Please feel free to talk to your instructor or to the administrative staff if you have comments or questions. Your feedback is very important to us.
About the Language Curriculum
Language classes at the Alliance cover 4 levels: Beginners, Intermediate, Intermediate Advanced and Advanced.
Beginner to intermediate advanced levels are divided into steps:
- Beginner 101 to 104 (+ PreIntermediate)
- Intermediate 201 to 204 (+ PreIntermediate-Advanced)
- Advanced Intermediate 301 to 305
Each step is covered in one session (a total of 27 hours of contact with a teacher). In addition, we offer transition courses between the 100/200 and 200/300 levels. These transition courses allow students to consolidate their competence in grammar and oral skills.
Advanced students have a variety of classes to chose from.
Our placement test allows us to accommodate new students with prior knowledge of French. Prospective students can do the placement test online or in person.
Remember that your motivation is the most important part of the learning process. In the classroom, our instructors give you hints and directions but they will not be able to teach you everything.
Don't hesitate to ask for other resources (books or websites) if you feel this is what you need! For 27 hours of in-class contact with the teacher each term, about 13 hours should be spent studying at home.
Please visit the various levels for additional information
and a class schedule.
